Roots' Apartment

Contrasts in design: a dialogue between past and present.

Layout

This architectural project presents a clear division between the living area and the sleeping area. The living area is conceived as a large space in which aesthetics and functionality merge without mixing.

Concept

This project is rooted in the idea of merging family heritage with a modern aesthetic, creating a space where tradition and innovation coexist harmoniously. The design is centered around contrasts in materials, shapes, lighting, and shadows, with each element contributing to a narrative that celebrates both the past and the present. Dark woods, with their rich tones, introduce warmth and a sense of timelessness, anchoring the space in tradition. In contrast, glossy and matte surfaces offer a sleek, contemporary edge, creating a dynamic interplay between the old and the new.

Design

The walls in this project play a significant role, enriched with carefully chosen wallpapers that introduce texture and subtle patterns. These wallpapers serve as a backdrop for bold black decorative accents, which add contrast and guide the eye through the space. The strategic placement of these black details creates focal points, enhancing the overall visual flow and adding emotional depth to the design.

The use of black also adds a sense of unity to the design, connecting the different spaces within the home. This careful integration of decorative elements ensures that every room contributes to the overall composition, creating a cohesive and harmonious environment that feels both modern and timeless.
